When a repair remains unresolved
Living with windows & doors can affect the way you use your home. If you have reported a repair problem to your council or housing association and it remains unresolved, an assessment can help you understand the options available.
We look at the circumstances of each enquiry. A problem being on this list does not automatically mean you have a valid claim.
Problems you might recognise
- Rotten or damaged external window frames
- Windows or doors that do not close properly
- Water entering through defective seals or frames
- Unresolved external door or lock defects
What will help explain your situation?
Note which windows or doors are affected and how this changes the way you use your home. Keep repair requests, photographs and details of unsuccessful visits.
Start with the information you have. Keep copies of repair requests, messages and appointment details, including any repair reference numbers.
Put safety first.Tell the landlord promptly if an external door or window leaves your property insecure.
What might a claim involve?
Depending on the evidence and the landlord’s responsibilities, a claim may seek appropriate repair works and compensation. We cannot promise a particular outcome or amount.
You will need to understand the proposed costs and funding before deciding whether to instruct a solicitor. Eligible cases may be offered No Win, No Fee terms.
