When a repair remains unresolved
Living with heating & hot water can affect the way you use your home. If you have reported a repair problem to your council or housing association and it remains unresolved, an assessment can help you understand the options available.
We look at the circumstances of each enquiry. A problem being on this list does not automatically mean you have a valid claim.
Problems you might recognise
- A boiler that remains broken after being reported
- Heating that repeatedly stops working
- No reliable hot water supply
- Unresolved faults with fixed heating installations
What will help explain your situation?
Record when the heating or hot water stopped, how long each interruption lasted and what your landlord did. Keep repair appointment details and any relevant receipts.
Start with the information you have. Keep copies of repair requests, messages and appointment details, including any repair reference numbers.
Put safety first.Tell the landlord if children, older people or anyone with health needs is affected. An urgent repair should be reported immediately.
What might a claim involve?
Depending on the evidence and the landlord’s responsibilities, a claim may seek appropriate repair works and compensation. We cannot promise a particular outcome or amount.
You will need to understand the proposed costs and funding before deciding whether to instruct a solicitor. Eligible cases may be offered No Win, No Fee terms.
