When a repair remains unresolved
Living with leaks & water damage can affect the way you use your home. If you have reported a repair problem to your council or housing association and it remains unresolved, an assessment can help you understand the options available.
We look at the circumstances of each enquiry. A problem being on this list does not automatically mean you have a valid claim.
Problems you might recognise
- A leaking roof or recurring ceiling leak
- Faulty plumbing or water entering from another property
- Damaged gutters causing water to enter your home
- Water damage to walls, floors or personal belongings
What will help explain your situation?
Keep the dates of each leak, repair visits and any further incidents. Save photographs and receipts for damaged belongings or reasonable related expenses.
Start with the information you have. Keep copies of repair requests, messages and appointment details, including any repair reference numbers.
Put safety first.Water near electrics or a ceiling at risk of collapse needs urgent attention. Report it through your landlord’s emergency repairs service.
What might a claim involve?
Depending on the evidence and the landlord’s responsibilities, a claim may seek appropriate repair works and compensation. We cannot promise a particular outcome or amount.
You will need to understand the proposed costs and funding before deciding whether to instruct a solicitor. Eligible cases may be offered No Win, No Fee terms.
Who can use this service?
